I didn't think the book was bad, per se, but it also wasn't as amazing as "Lament", Stiefvater's first book, which was literally spine-tinglingly (as in I felt shivers down my spine when reading it, which only happens with books I truly adore) awesome, and "Ballad", which was also pretty darn good. I suspect that all the internet hype made me expect more from it than I felt it was able to deliver. Puck and Sean were a lovely couple, though, and the carnivorous horses was a cracking idea.

This is my first Stiefvater, mainly because I feel that the "secret wolf lusting after forbidden girl" thing has been done... (ahem, he-who-shall-not-wear-shirts-or-be-named-Jacob-Black-fuck-I've-gone-and-done-it ahem...)

And my point? That graphic made me crylaff. I need to get my ass out of the Game of Thrones books.

Jill said I needed to read this. And I squinched up my eyes and held my mouth in a strange position and said "Eeeehhhhhh, I dunno." But murderous horses, a full heart, and an author who throws people or animals under the bus to remind us she is serious? That is cool. Jill's comment about the audio just about sealed the deal. If my library has it, I'm getting it.

I think this is HER book, like the masterpiece turning point in her style book. It has ALL the things as I can just imagine you saying. I loved it. So glad you did too.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Steifvater and I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVED this book! (a more sophisticated version of squeeee) My favorite line is when Sean says, "It's too late for that, Puck." romantic? yes! Oh, and did you see the hunky guy who is reading for Sean on the audio? Check Maggie S.'s blog site (which also has the recipe for November cakes). Do I sound like a raving fangurl? ack
