Sunday Dithers

Sunday ho, you guys! Not much has changed since I dithered on Thursday. Still reading A Fault in Our Stars and The Scorpio Races and the latter is starting to suffer in light of the former because NO ONE BANTERS like a John Green banters. Although Scorpio has carnivorous horses, so.

The only reason I'm back on here is because I keep forgetting to tell you that I HAVE STARTED WATCHING DOWNTON ABBEY and by 'started' I mean my folks and I watched Season One this week, and how much do I want to punch Thomas? SO MUCH, RIGHT?

And then I was talking to Alice after Season One and I was like, If Bates remains chivalrously silent to his own detriment ONE MORE TIME I am going to have to PUNCH HIM TOO. And then Season Two Episode One and now it looks like I'm going to have to put my punching gloves on.

Maybe I'll just punch Thomas twice.

so punchable

That's all, Intertubes. I just wanted to get all flaily with you. Sunday onwards.

  1. Sad news. They both remain quite punchable. Make sure to watch the christmas special when you're done!

  2. *sigh* Am I the last person on earth not to watch this series? But just looking at that man's face makes me want to put my bitch-slapping shoes on.

  3. Can't wait to read your review of Stars. I am not sure if I want to read it yet.

  4. Downton Abbey does induce one to flail. I have only watched episode 1 of season 2 so far but I agree -- I love Bates so much but he needs a good knock on the noggin right now. Sigh

  9. Hahahhahaha, my comment was essentially going to be exactly what Lu said above. Just about everyone is realllll punchable in season two.

But you will still be unable to stop watching.

  10. You are the second blog I am reading tonight that has mentioned DA! (It is Sunday night, when it airs on PBS, so it's probably not that BIG of a coincidence...) BUT it makes my heart seeeeeee-ing! I watched it on Netflix several months back and pestered and pestered my husband to watch season one so we could watch season two together when it started. Well, last weekend, I sat down and turned it on whilst he was in the room--and he was hooked! And we finished the season by the next day AND watched the first two episodes!

  11. But - but what would Downton Abbey BE without the evil gay footman? Not even lying, he's my favourite character!

  12. I'm so glad I don't have to hide my hatred of Thomas. I am praying that something absolutely horrible eventually happens to him! We can have a "The Happy Demise of Thomas" party.

  13. My husband and I watched the entirety of season 2 yesterday. It suffers in comparison with season 1 (which was pretty much super awesome) because several very soapy and implausible story lines are introduced. The first couple of episodes are ok, and it gets better again towards the end, but I'm glad we've got it over with quickly, or I'd have to shout and throw things at the TV.

Thomas is extremely punchable, I agree. But I hate Miss O'Brian more, she's so much worse. Horrible woman.

  14. I am also much in love with the Downton Abbey...although we are also watching season 1 still and looking forward to more intrigues for season 2. That Thomas is awfully smarmy....

  15. I have on more episode of DA season one left, which I think I'm going to have to watch tonight so I can discuss the punchiness of season two with all the cool kids.

I read The Fault in our Stars over the weekend, and it left me an emotional wreck. Still slogging through Scorpio Races. Why do I not find carnivorous horses more exciting? Perhaps the exciting bits are still to come? I really hope so.

  16. De-lurking to say a: Congratulations on your lovely new future LadyNerd daughter and b: OMG DOWNTON. If I wasn't convinced we were star-crossed blogfriends in the past, I am now.

Ps- Do you find it admirable that Lady Mary quite literally "loved" someone to death? Because I do.
