Embedded comments

You guys, I have changed my comments to 'embedded' to see if that enables the threaded comments feature. Seriously, though, tell me if it sucks. I'd rather not have replyable options than have everyone be like, Ugh, embedded comments.

Also, someone say something so I can reply to it.

  1. *says something* I gave up on mine after a couple of people told me they could no longer comment :\ Oh Blogger. I'm on your side, but sometimes you make it hard.

    1. Ugh, see, that's what I worry about. Because I like to be able to say things, but I PREFER that YOU be able to say things. I'm greedy that way. *waits out verdict, but is skeptical*

  2. I'm replying! I want to see what this is like as well. Right now I have intensedebate comments, because I wanted to be able to reply. But now I'm scared that if I take them out, I lose all the comments that have been made on my blog. So I'd like this to work.
    What does embedded mean anyway?
(hmm, I'm wondering what I hit to get your reply. Subscribe by email?)

    1. I don't even know. I think you just check back here periodically to see if I've said anything? That's what I do with blogs that have threaded comments. And I've heard both good and AWFUL things about intensedebate, so.

Embedded means below the post, as opposed to a pop-up window. I've heard it wreaks havoc on people being able to comment.

  3. Visiting from the wild world of Wordpress, I think this is an easier way to comment for me. I've had a lot of trouble commenting on blogspot sites.

    1. Blogger. So terrible, but still one of the two best options. (Threaded comments is the one thing that makes me consider switching, but WP people have angsty things to say about it as well. No one wins.)

  4. How's this for a comment? I think it's hilarious that I half hope there will be baby photos when my g-reader says you've updated, and I half hope it will be something about a book. I want them exactly equally.

    1. Ha! I have been remiss. I solemnly promise more photos in future.

    2. I think I'm replying to your reply, just to see if that works. I don't get a lot of comments, so I haven't seen the indented reply-to-reply thing in action. I'm on blogger to, but I think I'm using the old interface.

    3. Can I reply to your reply? Apparently not. It seems we are all replying to Elizabeth's comment. Blogger, fix this!

  5. Embedded comments! I like them! I know I'm in the minority, but still. Embedded means fewer windows to try to quickly close when someone walks by my computer at work.

    1. Noted! Unless I get, like, thirty emails being all, I can no longer comment on your blog and I have WITTY things to say, I'm keeping it.

  6. I switched to embedded comments immediately when Blogger made them available, but then they caused all sorts of problems so I switched back. That was about a week ago, so maybe Blogger has fixed the problems by now!

I love being able to reply directly to people, so I'm hopeful.

    1. Yes except that everyone else is like, IntenseDebate sux. Not that I trust everyone else over you, it's just that EVERYONE ELSE IS SO MANY PEOPLE.

  8. I love embedded comments! It makes blogging much less solipsistic. I'm all about the conversations me - especially conversations with Raych.

    1. CONVERSATING! I love it. It gives me a chance to flail back at people.

  9. I love the idea of the embedded comments, but sometimes it doesn't work when I try to comment on some blogs. It's about a 50% success rate for me. I have to refresh multiple times and log out of blogger and log back in. It ends up working in the long run, but sometimes I don't have time to mess with it and don't comment at all. Hopefully they've fixed the bug. I didn't have any trouble this morning.

    1. Keep me posted. I love comments like woah, and don't want to make it harder for people to say shit to me.

    1. Baby photos! I have so many. I'm self-conscious about becoming one of those moms who is all, I used to do stuff but now I have a baby so HERE ARE PHOTOS. But I tweet a lot of photos, so. Hey, let's be facebook friends! I have SOER MANY baby photos up there.

  11. For some reason, now that there are embedded comments, my netvibes feedreader shoots me to the bottom of the comments when I click on a post to read instead of letting me start at the beginning of the post and read to the bottom. It's a strange thing.

    1. It does that for me, too. Maybe it thinks it's being efficient?
