You guys are aces with your camera app recs. But BECAUSE of you and your awesome recs, you will now be forced to endure a long and insufferable period in which I think I am the first person to discover Arty Photos, and in which all my photos are modified to hell.
Por ejemplo this, the Traditional Post Of Christmas Braggery.
So my sister bought me the Entire Jane Austen Canon. It is massive and purple. The enormous gold armlet is for scale. The book is, I tell you, huge.
She also got me this card
which I think you will enjoy.
My brother and sister-in-law got me this excellently scary knife, made of folded steel like a very tiny, very fancy sword.
Watch your backs, butternut squashes.
And my other sister-in-law got me THIS wondrous beast, which needs no photo editing due to being inherently great:
Right? That's going in the baby's room, as soon as the baby has a room.
And then we spent the Unborn Child's Christmas money on one of these inglorious basterds, rationalizing that it will make us better parents.
I thoroughly apologize for the entirety of this post. I am reading Lady Audley's Secret and it is JUICY and I promise Thoughts And Feelings Thereon for you soon(ish).

Ooooh I loved Lady Audley's Secret. I randomly plucked it from the library stacks a few years ago, pre-blogging, when I still thought that 'old' mean dull. Whoa boy was I wrong.
ReplyDeleteAnd yay for spending unborn Raychette's Christmas money. If she wanted something other than a fancy appliance, she should have decided to make her appearance already so she could have made her opinion known.
The Keurig. Ahhh. A finely purchased item, my friend. This will make you a better everything. I love my Keurig. In fact, I'm staring fondly at it now.
ReplyDeleteHave a safe and Happy New Year!
yay! I bought the hubby a similar knife- made the same way they make samurai swords= awesomeness in the kitchen. Or so I hope.
ReplyDeleteAnd agreed that baby books i done read's money was well spent, she'll agree when the caffeine takes your edge off at 3am.
I got an ipod touch so am also able to relate to how bored I am making those around me with my excitement for apps and twitter without using the computer.
yay toys!!
Mother-of-god, I loved Lady Audley's Secret. So good. I went on a bit of a Victorian Sensation binge last year & this was one of the winners. Familiar with The Woman in White? or East Lynne? or Aurora Floyd? All excellent, but The Woman in White is a definite favorite. (And if you haven't read Fingersmith yet--I'm sure you have, but just in case--read that too. I LOVE it when people are reading books I like! Aren't the interwebs fun?
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly is on that knife …..?????
ReplyDeleteOh yes … Wishing you a wonderful 2012 filled with 5 star reads! And a baby!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pics...and Lady Audley, too! Can't wait for your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteSounds brilliant. I received a few Jane Austens and As I Lay Dying by Faulkner. Most exciting of all was the ereader I got from hubby. Never thought id be converted but I already have 400 new books!! And I don't have to find a single shelf to put them on.
ReplyDeleteGot lots of books for baby for when it comes, but just the though of putting its room together is tiring :-) Better get a move on soon though!
I would love to scare with that knife my sweetheart who doesn't love me!
